Te Puke Veterinary Centre Ltd

Large Animal Team

Dan Schluter BVSc BSc
Veterinarian

After graduating in 2004, Dan worked in the Waikato for 2 years before making the journey over the Kaimai's to join Te Puke Vets. One of the key members of our large animal team, Dan is a trained InCalf advisor, and has a keen interest in mastitis management. He is currently undergoing further study to become a Fonterra accredited mastitis advisor, so that he can assist farmers struggling to manage their mastitis and also those keen to improve.

When not at work or at home with his 3 young kids (which doesn't leave a lot of time), he can be spotted at the tennis courts, out hunting for deer, or chasing fish and crayfish off shore.

Bryce Tod BVSc BApplSc
Veterinarian

Bryce arrived at Te Puke Vets in 2014 after spending 5 years in large animal practice in the Waikato. Originally from a sheep and beef farm in Hunterville, he has always had an interest in production animal work.

Bryce is InCalf trained and enjoys helping farmers to improve reproductive performance on farm. Outside of work, Bryce enjoys getting involved with most sports and travelling with his wife Noelle, however this might be curtailed with the recent arrival of their twin girls.

Steve Cribb BVSc
Veterinarian

'Cribby' graduated from Massey in 1985. He started in mixed practice in Waihi, before spending a year on an overland truck travelling through Africa. After a few months locuming in England, Cribby arrived back in NZ. He worked as an assistant in a cattle embryo transfer practice for a few seasons and has recently clocked up 20 years at TPVC.

Dairy cattle reproduction is a main focus of work, with In-Calf training providing a valuable tool to help clients work towards their goals. Outside of work interests are fishing, hunting and Tai Chi.

Laura Pattie BVSc (Dist)
Veterinarian

Laura has returned home to join our large animal team after travelling and working overseas for a couple of years. After graduating in 2010 Laura worked in the Waikato for 3 years gaining experience in cattle and companion animal medicine.

Laura is interested in cattle reproduction and nutrition and getting involved in the equine work as well. She has recently taken up multisport, so you might spot her out running, cycling or kayaking around the Pukehina area.

David O'Brien BVSc BSc
Veterinarian

After living most of his life in Taihape, graduating vet school from Palmy in 2010 and 5 years of vetting in Taupo, Dave has been migrating northwards and now happily finds himself in the tropical haven of Te Puke.

Dave interests are predominantly in most things Equine, including dentistry, medicine and reproduction, but enjoys dabbling in dairy work. 3 years of working with Equine research at Massey University and 2 years of running veterinary clinical research trials for drug companies adds a few more strings to his bow.

Outside work, Dave is pretty keen on rods, rifles and getting outdoors with his fiancee and their 3 year old lab/huntaway.

Anna Maisey BVTech
Veterinary Tech

Anna joined the tean at the start of 2016, having completed her Vet Technologist degree at Massey University. This is a broad degree that covers everything from production animals and horse work, through to nursing and reception. While doing a little bit of all these things, Anna's passion is farm work with a particular interest in treating and preventing scours in calves.

Outside work, Anna enjoys all things horse related and is looking forward to getting back into horse riding after giving it a backseat to focus on studies.
